Polar Bear, Listed as Threatened Species, Likes Beer

The polar bear has just been listed as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act, the first of its kind to be marked as such since global warming. This development has animal rights groups and environmental activists fuming at the oil companies' as they continue with their drilling plans. Rumors of lawsuits run amok. After encountering the endangered mammal on one of my many fishing trips, I can't help to think that the attention finally given to this matter might be because there is a common bond between the current players that are battling over the extinction and the polar bear itself -- beer.

Fishing is the only time where being out in the center of the Dark, Quiet and Open Nowhere feels like infinity. In between the glaciers and ice sheets and while fishing for sharks, cod or salmon, one cannot help to feel the power of that which is everlasting. On the ocean, the consciousness of Mother Nature engulfs my body while I navigate my own destiny behind a nautical steering wheel. Sometimes there are eagles flying up high, dogs in the distance, and polar bears watching over the sea as if to be protecting all of that which will one day become extinct.

Somewhere deep in the serene Arctic Ocean off Greenland, my significant other at the time and I were male-female bonding and having a rather passionate time discovering each other intimately. The ocean breeze added to the romance and the yacht was equipped with everything you can imagine - up to and including the kitchen sink. We stopped the yacht in one particularly secluded area for some serious fishing and some hanky-panky. We had the fishing rods filled with salmon eggs, fresh tuna, and smelly shrimps for bait and the sonar showing what looked to be like millions of fish on the bottom of the sea. While waiting for the fish to bite, we were relaxing "in the buff" and enjoying every moment of it.
