May 16th is a special holiday. In fact, every day's a holiday for someone and for some reason.
Although we may not know the origins of many of these holidays, avid celebrants will participate eagerly in marking May 16th as a most special day for so many different reasons.
Here are several of the most popular May 16thholidays (arranged alphabetically):

While you are at it, why not celebrate food history and open a can of Spaghettios and SPAM? Both of these canned foods debuted on May 16th.
Also, root beer apparently first appeared on this date. How about a can of root beer with your pickle, Spaghettios and SPAM?
Of course, if you don't have a hankering for SPAM or Spaghettios, you can opt for a slice of pizza. May 16th is also Pizza Party Day.
Love A Tree Day (U.S.)
Are you a tree hugger? Even if you aren't, May 16th is the day to embrace an elm, stroke a spruce or plant a palm. Following April's Arbor Day, "Love a Tree Day" offers an excellent occasion for treating trees tenderly.

Annually, on the third Friday of May, the League of American Bicyclists urges folks to ride their bicyclists to work for both exercise and ecology. Spoke up!
