Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are finally getting married soon thanks to the California Supreme court, which removed the state ban that prevented same sex marriages. Truthfully, if a couple is contented and have been together happily for a long time who is any of us to judge?

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi who plays Ally on Nip Tuck have been together since at least 2005 and are often seen at events in Hollywood together. These two women love and support each other, and this is what a married couple is supposed to do.

I know Ellen and Portia are lesbians, truthfully that should not matter in the scheme of things here, they are happy and committed to each other and that is what would make a strong marriage in my eyes. No loving committed couple should be banned from being married, that is just not right in my eyes.

Personally, I do feel that we cannot choose who we fall in love with and if a couple is deeply in love and committed to each other they should be able to marry. When you have two people getting married who love each other unconditionally is always a good idea and Ellen and Portia are so much in love, they deserve to be afford the same opportunities as the 'heterosexuals' have.

It would be nice if everyone who had a commitment ceremony was entitled to the same benefits as married people, but that just is not happening and it is so wrong. In America, we are supposed to be equals and have freedoms, yet some people feel the need to discriminate against the gay and lesbian community and this is wrong. Many people do not have the freedom to marry simply because they are gay or lesbian this is ludicrous.

Personally, I know of more couples locally who live together, lesbian, gay, and homosexual couples who are happier then the married couples. I have known many gay and lesbian couples who have been together longer then heterosexuals who marry. I think in many ways same sex couples are more committed these days then heterosexual couples who divorce at the drop of a hat it seems.
