The people in the old days told us about what would happen in the future if we did not heed to our own arrogances. We built buildings which in return housed machines that would mass produce our own deaths. We had people of great minds that worked in vast overcrowded cities with colossal buildings which poured out gases of all colors and substances into the atmosphere. Little did we know that everything else would rebel against us. We no longer feared what was in the dark, but what would come in the brightness of the day.

Food was getting short and people had to search twice as hard. But people themselves had to worry because they too were food for something else. Old people and children were easy prey. For what ever it was, old people were easy prey because they would act like statutes. Things would happened quickly this day. Sounds could be heard from far away which alerted everyone. An old man looked at the sky while standing on a load of brick debris. He had a shocked look in his eyes when he lurched back. He yelled franticly which drew the awareness of a nomadic mass of people located in a hazily lit lot in the front of a ramshackled building.

"Oh, my Lord, they are coming!" he yelled.

The sounds were heard echoing from all corners and sounded like black helicopters, for they were many in the black swarm. However, there aren't too many these days.

"Everyone, seek shelter!" the woman cried out.

The sparsely numbered people scattered instantaneously in search of the nearest shelter to hide in before it happened again. A tired and frightened boy was too far away. He could run no longer as he tried to catch his breath. The exhausted boy lifted his face and his reflection showed clearly on the black honey comb compound eyes of the gigantic creature.

"Jeffrey, run!" yelled the scared woman from a distance.

In a mad sprint, Jeffrey thoughtlessly ran toward the voice. Jeffrey reached out and touched the woman's fingers.

Almost there!

The woman's face was speckled with blood.

Jeffrey was not fast enough.

And he was heaved away effortlessly into the black swarm.
