Bobbing for apples is a fun game to play. It does not have to be done only on the 4th of July. But this is a fun time for this game.

The basic way the game works, is you stick your head in a barrel of water and apples. You have to pull out as many apples with your mouth as you can, with in a certain amount of time. The person with the most apples, is the winner.

What you need is a sanitary, and safe container to use for a barrel. It needs to be big enough and short enough for people to stick their heads in it. It needs to be able to hold waters as well. So you really don't want something that leaks out water. Unless you are changing up the game with something different.

In the barrel of water you stick in apples. It is preferred to use apples with steams. But throwing in some stemless apples can increase the difficulty.

Now the team players volunteer and get picked out. With a certain amount of time per person. Each person will bob for apples.

You can not use anything other than your mouth. The trick to this is to grab the apple by the steam. With some stemless apples, some apples can not be picked up. This is why it increases the difficulty.

The team, or person with the most apples with in the time limit is the winner.

I suggest some safety. Make sure you have a safe and sanitary container for a barrel. And have someone to stand by in case some one falls into the container. You don't want someone to drown in it. Someone might find it funny to tip someone in it also, so have a strong man stand by.
