Keeping your toddler's clothing looking new and fresh really takes some work. Toddlers aren't exactly known to be neat and tidy eaters or playmates. If your toddler is like 99% of other toddlers in the world and likes to grind spaghetti sauce, mud, and everything else stain resistant into all of his clothing, you need these tips! Toddler stains are challenging but almost all of them will be avoided or will come out with a little planning, a few tools, and some effort. Here is how to keep your toddler's clothing looking fresh, new, and stain free.

Consider What You Buy. The first step in keeping toddler clothing looking new and clean is to make your purchases carefully. Toddler clothing in bright colors and toddler clothing with patterns will not show wear and stains nearly has much as solids and lighter colors. Choosing patterns and darker or brighter colors for your toddler's wardrobe is the first step in keeping his clothing looking new.

Try Starch. Nobody (at least no one I know) likes to iron, but if you're ironing your own clothes anyway, this is a fairly easy trick to try to keep your toddler's clothes looking nice. Cover your toddlers clothing with a quick spray of spray starch and run the iron over each piece. You don't have to do a stellar job with the ironing by any means. The starch acts as a stain repellent. Many liquid and oily stains and spills will simply roll off of starched clothing. Adding a little starch to your toddler's clothes may allow you to keep them a little longer.

OxyClean Rules. There are many, many stain removers on the market aimed at laundry stain removal. From my own personal experience, and the experiences of many other toddler moms I know, OxyClean seems to be the best product out there for removing the stains toddlers create. OxyClean is a bit more expensive than some other stain removers, but you may be able to keep your toddler's clothing longer, thus saving money overall.

who would have thought to buy dark or bright colored clothing? I should have known that... Yes, I agree that oxyclean is the best, especially when you soak the clothing items.

These are all fabulous tips ~ I didn't realize that starch repelled stains. Wow, even if all you did was starch the front of the playsuit or shirt, that would probably catch 90% of those stains :)
