Americana Decor Ideas: Refurbished Patriotic Entertainment Armoire
Americana decor has been a staple in many homes for several years, but has seen a rise in popularity in recent years. If you have an old wood entertainment armoire you wish to give a new and updated look, this patriotic facelift should do just the trick!
For this project, you will need:
- One wood entertainment
armoire
- Medium grit sandpaper
- Soft cloth
- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White
- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Banner Red
- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in True Blue
- Two twelve inch by twelve inch square of craft tin
- Black permanent marker
- Old toothbrush
- Tin snips
- Gloves
- Masking tape
- Measuring tape
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Newspaper
Begin first by coating your entire work area in newspaper and making sure there is plenty of ventilation. Wipe down the wooden armoire with a damp soft cloth to remove any dust or dirt. Gently sand away any previous paint or stain with medium grit sandpaper. Wipe away any excess dust with a dry soft cloth. Prime the entire armoire using two thick coats of Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White. Dry for several hours.
Measure a three inch border around the face of each armoire door and any drawers. Fill in the center of the pattern with masking tape for protection. (This should leave only the main part of the armoire and the border areas exposed.) Apply two thick coats of Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Banner Red. Again, dry for several hours.
Remove the masking tape. Cover the Banner Red painted areas using masking tape for protection. Coat the previously unpainted areas using two coats of Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in True Blue. Dry completely.
