Should You Dye Your Dog's Hair?
There are many people out there who think that it would be a "cool" idea to dye their dog's fur. Although your dog may look cute in an unnatural shade of pink or blue, is this really a good thing to do? Is it ethical to dye your dog's fur? Are there any problems
which can arise when you dye a dog's hair? Here are some of the things that you should take into consideration.
How Will Your Dog's Skin Feel?
If you have ever dyed your hair before, you probably already know that it can cause you to experience a slight tingling feeling. Unlike a person, dogs are unable to understand the whole entire concept of hair dye. How will dye feel on your dog's hair and skin? Unfortunately, no one can really tell you except for Fido himself. It is important to keep in mind that hair which is designed for humans is likely to cause a dog to experience itching and irritation - mainly because it has not been designed for dogs. This is one of the main reasons to avoid dying a dog's fur.
Will Your Dog Try to Lick the Dye?
In order to change hair color, the dye will need to remain on the hair for a certain amount of time. During this time, it is likely that your dog will try to lick the hair, which ultimately will cause him to ingest some of the dye. No matter what type of dye you decide to use on your dog's fur, there is a good chance that it contains a decent amount of chemicals. Most of these chemicals should probably not be ingested by any living creature. If your dog does happen to swallow any of the dye, it is important to contact the veterinarian or a Poison Control Center. Both of these places should be able to provide you with information on what to do.
