Hair removal is a daily or at least weekly ritual faced by most men and women, even though women generally are more prone to feel the pressures of society if they do not take care of this situation. There are several types of hair removal, some are temporary, such as shaving and others are more permanent, such as laser hair removal.

Laser hair removal is a procedure using a laser beam to disable or destroy the root of hair follicles, while not destroying the skin surrounding the hair follicles. The process used to perform this procedure is called selective photothermolysis. This procedure is considered selective because it targets only the follicles and not the skin, photo because a light is used and thermolysis because of being destroyed by heat.

To perform this procedure, the skin is generally cooled using a gel, spray or cooling tip. After the cooling, the laser beam is then applied. It searches out the melanin in the hair follicles, and then sends the light to destroy the root. This procedure is ideal for dark hair and light skin; however, this procedure will not produce positive results on people with red, white, gray or true blond hair. People with dark skin or suntans could also have not so favorable results due to them having more melanin in their skin and the laser being attracted to the melanin. The results are generally discolored skin or other side effects.

There are advantages and disadvantages to using this procedure for hair removal. The advantages are long-lasting hair removal or permanent hair reduction enjoyed by some consumers. This procedure is considered safe if performed properly. This is a very useful procedure for large areas, such as legs or backs. If regrowth occurs, it is generally lighter or finer than before.

My wife is desperate to shave her head in January as we both love the look. She last shaved 10 months ago but now has a new job, so it may not be easy. However her plan is to stay totally bald for one month, begining on new years eve. She has told me sometimes that she does not want hair anymore and would celebrate if she had alopecia. I also feel the same way! If she can stay shaved for months or years I would like her to remove it permanently, maybe for her fiftieth birthday in 5 years time. She and I have talked about this, and though we find it exciting we have made no descision. She has posted some pictures of herself on a bald sight, and she looks stunning. She looks better bald, and she knows it. My bald wife again in a couple of months. I cant wait! Maybe permanently bald eventually, like Maria. I am a lucky man!

Hi Maria Hope you enjoy(ed) your first permanently hairless holiday. To me there is no finer sight on a nude beach than a man or woman who is naked, tanned and totally hairless. I went to France on a nudist holiday this summer and was the only person without any hair, though I saw a couple of guys who were hairless apart from eyebrows. I am about 80% of the way through neck to toe laser hair removal with head and face to follow. Did you remove your eyebrows with electrolysis? Where did you get you head lasered as not many salons do the scalp?

I find it amazing that Maria took the plunge and went through the process of having her scalp hair permanently removed. The idea is very appealing to me as I love women who are totally bald and hairless. In some ways, a woman who has alopecia totalis or no hair anywhere, is my ideal. At the same time I think that the actual process of clipping off the hair and then shaving or using depilatory or waxing the scalp clean is nice also. But as Maria said, she enjoys getting up in themorning and feeling her completely smooth scalp, one that has no and never will have stubble. I am an afficianado of the totally bald and hairless woman. I think it is incredibally hot that Maria went ahead and got her scalp permanently denuded of any hair. I am just trying to imagine the hair falling out in droves days after the laser went through it. And the idea of her never being able to grow hair again is more than I can bear. I hope that she permanentlpy removes every last hair on her body.

All I can say michael, is that my husband has never known me with hair! I always had it shaved, and now I am really bald, I think it is a relief for us both as shaving is time consuming, and sometimes a bit sore! On a lighter side he does not have to put up with shampoos, conditioners, colourings, , brushes, razors, or all the usual toiletries women possess, and I just love him rubbing my head, particularly as it stubble free. We are going to Cape d'agde for our holiday, and I feel a totally bald nude women will be the ultimate nudist, and gives a whole new meaning to an all over tan. This will be my first holiday permanently bald, and I cant wait. I hope your wife knows what she is missing.

Maria, how did your husband react when you first decided to shave your head and how does he like you permanently hairless? It is a nice fantasy to think of my wife doing this, though I think she would probably be too self-conscious to feel comfortable. You must be a special lady.

The girl at uni. had alopecia, and had been bald since childhood. We still meet up as often as we can, after all, I owe her so much. I tell everyone I have alopecia, but say that I really like it and would not want hair again. It is easier for everyone.

When there was no internet, I have been thinking that beautiful bald women exist in my imagination only! How nice to know that there are women in real life who enjoy being bald. Women who remove all the hair from their heads (mostly by shaving, as we know) and enjoy freedom and sensual look of totally bald head! It is indeed a clean, sensual and neat look, maybe not suitable for every head, but perfect for many women. So it was at the age of 19 when you shaved your head for the first time and not let it grow since then? I suppose that was one of those moments in life which you remember as positive turning points? Was that woman you have met at university bald naturally (alopecia) or she had a shaved head? I think that it is easier for you when other people think that you got some form of alopecia, isn't it? It could be a way to go for some other women. But I think that smooth bald look can also be achieved with some hair retardants. Maybe that would be good enough for women who would l

I have not met any other woman who wanted to be permanently bald. It was meeting a woman at university who was bald that gave me the confidence to shave it off when I was 19 years old. Shaving for all those years just became tiresome so I thought why not remove it for good. It is so good to wake and touch my head and find smooth skin instead of stubble. I do think more women will do this, though only my friends and family know the truth of my baldness. To the world I am a woman who went bald. To me I am in control of how I look and who I am! I look at all that hair that some women have and think yuk! Baldness is clean, beautiful, and very sensual.

Maria, have you heard of (or maybe: meet) any other woman who has done the same thing: become bald voluntarily after a treatment? It must be extremely rare in society which promotes long hair on women, heavily supported by cosmetics industry? Or maybe you just know some women who shave their heads regularly, not for money, but because they like to be bald headed?

I have no shadow at all, though there is still some possibility of some regrowth. It is very hard to find someone to perform this procedure, particularly on the scalp. My hair was dark so it was successfully removed. Ask at a salon, you can only try, though you have to really want to be bald, as I did, and as I now am! Bald women are beautiful!

Maria, I'm strongly considering laser hair removal as my hair is thinning and it's hard to keep it shaved to get that smooth and shiny look. Can you tell me if the treatments have completely removed the hairline and the shadow and if there's any patchiness to the final result?

I had my eyebrows removed some time ago. It looks great but I do get sweat in my eyes! I always wanted to be bald, as long as I remember, hoping for it to just fall out. Sometimes nature needs a push!

Maria, I am happy to know that you have finally realized your wish to become permanently bald! Thank you so much for updating with news. It is nice to hear that you are now going bald to work and not hiding your smooth head under a wig. Have you left your eyebrows on, or removed them also? Maybe I am too curious, but at what age have you for the first time felt that wish to be bald? In childhood, or maybe later, in puberty? Did you have periods when you had hair, maybe long, or you were shaving it all off from chilhood on? I wish you everything good Maria. Be a proud bald woman and keep your head high! I hope at least some more women will be inspired by your story, and become regular head shavers. It would be nice to hear how they achive that beautiful, completely smooth look, so similar to natural baldness.

Thanks for all support. Bald is beautiful, and if a woman wants to be bald what is the problem? The routine of shaving was too much so it was best to remove it all. I love it and so does my husband, though I have lost some friends who think I must be crazy. At my new job I am simply the woman with no hair and that is fine with me.
