Have you ever had the pleasure of watching the glorious award winning film de francais known as Amelie, pronounced like "omm-a-lee"? The movie, titled after the star character, will delight and inspire you to endless levels of wonderment and propel you forth into a day, week, maybe even month of do-goodness that has a lasting effect. If you have for any reason missed this fabulous little extraordinary work of art, you absolutely must do yourself the kind favor of renting it from your favorite store as soon as is humanly possible.

Amelie character will sweep you off your feet as she struggles to combat her internal loneliness in a very outgoing and social, extroverted world. And of course, it has to have the typical love story as an underlying but side plot, however this film hardly tracks romance in the typical way. Amelie is a keeper film in my opinion. In other words, watch the preview online on YouTube or somewhere else you prefer to find such popular movie trailers and if it looks remotely like your style and topic of interest, you might as well just outright buy it.

The only exceptions are those really masculine and usually less sensitive men out there who tend to hate these feel good types of chic flick movies (those in this category will know by the cover of the movie box that they will hate it). I feel very strongly that my assumption regarding Amelie's universal appeal will stand true. Just a warning, though. It does have English subtitles so you have to do some brainwork unless you can recognize the francais. Don't let this deter you, please, though, for so many extraordinary foreign films are left in the dust because of the silent anti-subtitle movement in our English speaking states of America.

Takeaways
  • The main character of this film francais is a shy but fascinating girl by the name of Amelie.
  • Amelie Poulain is played by Audrey Tautou in this award winning french film.
  • English keyboards sometimes make it difficult to write french movie reviews with proper spelling.
Did You Know?
In French, the film Amelie is known as "Le Fabuleux Destin D'Amelie Poulain"

Great review! I normally don't watch movies with subtitles because I can either watch the characters or read the words. It's an exercise in frustration for me. This movie sounds right up my alley though other than the subtitle thing.

You are so right about the anti-subtitle movement. People seem to avoid subtitled movies and I don't get it. Maybe they can't read quickly enough? Super review!
