Scream Queen Tiffany Shepis (from TROMEO & JULIET, DETOUR, and THE HAZING) does a bang up job in the new film NIGHTMARE MAN but she's about all that's any good in this film.

There lies within the film an interesting story in, which Ellen (Blythe Metz) is being escorted to a mental hospital by her husband William (Luciano Szafir) when they run out of gas. It seems that Ellen believes that a Nightmare Man is after her in her dreams brought about by a tribal mask she bought to help her and her husband have a child. When her husband goes off to find gas Ellen begins to think she's seeing the Nightmare Man. Once the Nightmare Man attacks her she realizes that he is real and flees the comfort of her car into the woods at night.

She runs and eventually comes upon a lake house where four people are partying (James Ferris, Jack Sway, Hanna Putnam, and Shepis). Their party turns tragic when Ellen arrives and brings with her the Nightmare Man which slowly tries to kill them all in order to get to Ellen, who believes that the demon wants to take over her body.

Four about the first third of the film it plays off as a psychological thriller in which you never know whether or not the Nightmare Man is all in Ellen's head. Then it switches to a serial killer bloodbath before going supernatural by the end. The film does not do a good job balancing the many different aspects of the script and the amateur acting doesn't help. Shepis gives a better than average performance and is the true standout in the film as see is given more to play with then any of the other actors. In fact, without her this film would've been a straight to DVD bargain basement film with no redeeming qualities. This being said there are a few nice twists in the film and the action and pace is always fast and furious which helps a lot in a film such as this so audiences should still be entertained even though the film has little to recommend.
