I know what you are thinking. What could be a newlywed’s secret, apart from ideas on sex? Well you are in some surprise. Unlike what they show in the media about the “glowing newlywed” or the “still blushing bride”, life as a newlywed is an uphill task.
You tend to focus so much on the wedding itself that you have very little time to think and understand what being married really is. What are the responsibilities? Expectations? We see so much candy flossed wedding shows and read about perfect celebrity weddings, the reality gets pushed back. Day after the wedding, when guests are gone and you are have to start sharing you life your husband, then you realize that getting married is much more than that perfect wedding dress or that great pair of centerpiece.
So here are the Top secrets of a newlywed:
Newlywed’s Secret #1: Party is over! We hate the day after wedding. I can’t tell you how true this is. The day after my wedding party I cried the whole evening thinking about the carefree days as a single student, enjoying the sun and sand in Florida. The whole idea of being a wife, taking care of my husband and the family (we have a traditional joint family) sacred me. As my parents left the party, wishing me luck,I felt that a part of my life just vanished. It was lonely.
Newlywed’s Secret #2: Can’t we have another shopping spree? We hope for the pre-wedding retail madness to continue. Days before the wedding are the best. You go crazy buying stuff for the wedding, money doesn’t seem to be an object. As a bride you can escape the check and pretend as if everything was free. Only if that could continue. After the wedding, when we have start looking out for the ways to save money to buy a house or ways to cut the credit card debt, we long for those carefree days.

Newlywed's Secret #4: Hello! I got a new hair cut. We hate being ignored the day after "I Do". I don't know how it works but the same guy who, before you got married, wouldn't mind looking at your face for hours, suddenly stops noticing you is pretty amazing. It is not that we stop looking attractive, why then does it take so long to notice a new hair cut or a new dress?Newlywed's Secret #5: I have a headache! We hate that sex isn't as often as we would like. This reality kicks in the earliest, just after the honeymoon. We hate it but there isn't much to be done as one need two hands to clap!
