Recently, I organized a field trip to the Children's Museum of Indianapolis for my homeschool group. I planned the event two months in advance and organized 29 students and 20 adults, including reserving shows for our group and figuring out the carpool conundrums that occurred. Although it is suggested that reservations should be made through their Web site, I called to make them for our group. One planetarium show was included with each visit and because we had students in preschool through sixth grade in our group, I wanted to see if half of the students could go to the show geared toward younger children while the other half went to the show for older students. The person who helped me with my reservation over the phone was extremely helpful and informed me that it wouldn't be a problem. She then made reservations for our lunch hour, also. In about one week, I received my reservation packet in the mail, including the name tags that would serve as our tickets to enter the museum.
After a one-and-a-half hour drive, a few wrong turns, and a little traffic, we were pleased to arrive at a parking garage that was free of charge. We walked across the skyway path that led to the museum and were quickly checked-in and given the all-clear to explore the museum and view one of the planetarium shows that had waited to start because we were running late. I was immediately impressed with the friendly staff and the willingness to go above and beyond what I had expected from a large facility such as this one.
