What Independence Day celebration would be complete without some good old fashioned patriotic music? If you are looking for a selection of songs for your Fourth of July barbecue, I think you will find the ones mentioned below will more than whet your appetite. Music preference really doesn't matter with this list, as most everyone loves to hear a good patriotic song, especially on our nation's birthday. This is not a "top ten" list, just merely a few of the "stick out your chest because I'm proud to live in the USA" type of songs. So, without further delay, here they are, in no particular order:

Born In the U.S.A by Bruce Springsteen - Possibly Bruce's most popular song.

God Bless the U.S.A. by Lee Greenwood - Also known as "I'm Proud To Be An American."

The Star Spangled Banner - A must for any 4th of July. If you can find the recording by Whitney Houston at Super Bowl XXV, it will give you chills.

The Stars and Stripes Forever - After all, it is our National March.

America the Beautiful - The version by Ray Charles will bring a tear to your eye.

You're A Grand Old Flag - Forever in peace shall you wave.

Battle Hymn of the Republic - Maybe better known as "Glory, Glory Hallelujah."

God Bless America - The version by Celine Dion after the September 11 terrorist attacks is terrific!

America - My country 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty.

This Is My Country - To have and to hold.

There are plenty of great songs for your celebration, and this is just a short list of them. Whatever you choose as the background for your festivities, please take a moment or two during the day to remember the servicemen and women who are fighting for our country every minute of every day, and pray that they will ALL return home safely, very soon. Happy Fourth of July, and God Bless America!
