From the Desolation of the Republican Party, at Last a Shining Light!
In this political season where, honestly, no party is 100% happy with their candidates for President, at last a shining star comes forth. Sure, he is not a candidate for President, but nevertheless an interesting candidate indeed. I'm speaking of Vijay Kumar of Nashville,
Tennessee who is seeking the Republican nomination for the 5th district Congressional House seat now presently held by Rep. Jim Cooper (D). Vijay is an immigrant (legally) to the United States from his native India. Vijay is an American success story, having come to the U.S.A. with nothing, struggling over 20 years to complete the immigration process to become an American Citizen. Along the way, he met his wife Robin (from Kentucky) and they have a son, and two adopted children.
Vijay calls himself a Reagan Republican, not because that is trendy, or cliche'. No, Vijay calls himself a Reagan Republican because it was the lessons of conservatism that he learned along his long path to that side. Born into a liberal family, having worked over the years for many liberal Democratic candidates, he began to wonder why their philosophy's never truly "worked". Why is it that the Democrat Party touts itself as being for the little man, for the working man, yet the people are not benefitting from their programs. Welfare has become a trap for millions. Gang violence is on the rise. Inner city officers find themselves strapped and unable to fight the crime they are sworn to fight. In politics, the democrats seem lost in the benign causes that are intangible and unable to be proven, that of environmentalism and globalism. Realizing these things, and having been a student of history, Vijay slowly changed his views to become a conservative Republican.
