Around the end of April 2008, news reports surfaced that Miley Cyrus, a.k.a Hannah Montana, had a photo shoot taken by Annie Leibovitz, a photographer of celebrities, for Vanity Fair. The "very beautiful work of art" was really a "very beautiful portrait of Miley Cyrus's fall from the pedestal of innocence to being just another ordinary celebrity."

Miley Cyrus has said publicly that she is keeping herself pure and saving herself for marriage. She received publicity last September for going to a purity ball where she promised to her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, that she would save herself for her future husband. She had a solid family, and wore a chastity ring. A lot of people found relief in seeing a celebrity who was clean and pure in an age filled with the latest troubles of celebrities such as Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, and Amy Winehouse.

The youth across America looked up to Miley Cyrus. She was a role model for young girls. With all of today's problems with teen pregnancy, STD's, and girls being used, Miley Cyrus was a living example of that a girl could be famous and not have her life end up a train wreck.

What set Miley Cyrus apart from the crowd, what made Miley Cyrus special, was compromised and undermined by the photo shoot. The girl once known for her modesty is now known for her lack of thereof. She may have gained some more publicity and money for the photos, but she lost her innocence. Her uniqueness of being a celebrity without the lust glamour is a thing of the past.

It's disappointing to see a young superstar with the potential to stand out from the rest fold and compromise her innocence. It's even more disheartening to see her go from a role model to a photo model. In this day and age of celebrity shamelessness, Miley Cyrus has become just another one of the celebrities. Maybe it's not too late for her to turn it around. One can hope, right?

Okay, I find this really stupid. That photo does not make her "loose her innocene", I don't even find that photo to be bad. It isn't portrayed as "Hey I'm topless look at me", It's tastefull. Some person in the media just decided that they wanted to make a buck so they accused it of being parrocative. Which it is not. When she comes up with a Vanessa Hugens photo, let me know. My god. I dislike Miley's music, but here I must defend her. Shes freakin' superwoman. I am 14, and I can openly say. If I were her, Disney would have kicked me off by now. So for gods sake cut the girl some slack!
