Getting out of debt is a very popular topic for everyone because we all need money for more than making payments to others. Listed here are 10 debt busters to keep us on the high road to getting out of debt forever.

Debt Busters One

Mr. and Mrs. Jones do not pay your bills so don't compete with them to show off bigger and better stuff. Competition with others does not contribute to getting out of debt. That mindset only adds to financial problems.

Debt Busters Two

Set up a getting out of debt budget that lists income and expenses. Increase your income and decrease your expenses until you have a balanced budget staying within the spending limits set up. Create a category for every typical expense and be honest about where you spend your money. Even set up a category called debt reduction as part of your budget plan. Work a second job temporarily and put all of that money towards long term bills.

Debt Busters Three

Cut up your credit cards unless you know how to use one. Using a credit card is a convenience when it is paid off each month. If you can't pay for an item in 30 days, don't use a charge card to make a purchase or you will be getting out of debt for the rest of your life. This is one of the debt busters that brings quick rewards.

Debt Busters Four

Pay your savings account like you do your bills with an end result of getting out of debt and staying that way. If you can't set aside ten percent of your paycheck before taxes, strive for two, five, seven and then ten percent. Invest in a secure money market account or some form of higher paying interest account.

Debt Busters Five

Eliminate eating out regularly or buying name brand coffee for a while. A family can save hundreds of dollars per month doing this as they are getting out of debt. Make sure to treat yourself, but just not as often.

Debt Busters Six

Curb your emotions. A lot of buying is based on impulse. Let a buying idea cool for at least 48 hours and that desire will vanish along with a new bill. Getting out of debt means you are in control of spending. It's doesn't control you.
