The Top 5 Reasons You Have to Watch the Discovery Channel

I am sure that most everyone has heard of the Discovery Channel and I am also assuming that there are fellow followers out there as well. With the generalization that comes with the name Discovery Channel you can also assume it has educational programming. Well for those of you who are not regular watchers I am here to tell you that it is not your typical educational television. Some of their shows have earned their spots on many peoples TiVos and you get to learn a little something in the process.

The # 1 reason you must watch (and my personal favorite): The Deadliest Catch

For those of you who have never seen this show it follows the format of a reality show only without the not so real feeling drama. It follows around several boats with very animated captains and crew in pursuit of the deadliest catch. The deadliest catch refers to Alaskan crab fishing in the Bering Sea. Cameras are in every part of the boats so you see all the danger they face, the disputes that are bound to happen when in close quarters for long periods of time, and their race against the clock to catch their share of the seasons crab and cash. It shows you haw dangerous a job it really is and shows all the crew just as they are. Watch it once and you cannot help but fall in love with the captains, the crew, and the adventure.

Reason # 2 You Must Watch: Mythbusters

This is another personal favorite of mine and answers the questions you have always wondered about our favorite myths. "Mythbusters" is extremely funny and covers all types of myths,from the dangerous to the downright silly. Follow Adam and Jamie (along with their team of mythbusters that act more like arguing siblings) through a new set of myths every week. Another reason to check this one out is the themed shows they do. They bust famous movie myths, old western myths, and viewer requested myths just to name a few. With Adam and Jamie having very different personalities(aside from the fact that they both love blowing things up) and their perseverance to prove or bust new myths you are going to get a good laugh and learn something, even if it isn't exactly crucial information.
