And Now for Something Completely Different: A Sermon Based on Acts Chapter 11
A Love Works Daily Commentary
O God, we stand before you humbled by your grace and your mercy, ever mindful of the unthinkable gift that you have given to all mankind in your son Jesus Christ. We beseech you that you make your presence and wisdom known with us now as we seek communion with you through the Word of
I feel very blessed to have this opportunity to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with you again today. Thank you so much for the kind words and support.
I wish that I could take more credit for it, but as I said last time, I have the conviction that this is God's calling, and know that I am only a vehicle for the Holy Spirit. I am truly humbled by this, but where God will take me, I will follow.
Recently I was referred to as a "fledgling preacher:" Very True!
I hope to be a child-like preacher for the rest of my breathing years; ever wide-eyed and seeking.
Hopeful. Trusting. Innocent at heart, yet with just enough curiosity to find my way to push open a door, or take something apart. I pray to God every day that He will help me to preach every day as though doing so with the energy and excitements and fear and trembling that comes from doing something the very first time.
As such, you may notice an intentional simplicity in my preaching style.
Not only is simple plain speech a Quaker tradition, but it's also my way to attempt to assure that even though we may grow older in years, we seek to stay young and in awe and wonder of the blessing that God has given to all of us.

I was called a "paradigm shifter"
Any one know what that is? A well paid pain in the backside.
I was placed in committees and with groups to "open minds" and "shake things up". When ideas were not working, and old ways needed to change but people resisted. Tim came in to stir the pot.
And I'm good at it. Too good at it sometimes.
I was always the NEW guy. ( mainly because I was introduced into established groups often) I wasn't better than anyone else. I just had NEW eyes and new ears.

Being greatest was and is an important thing. Who would be at the right hand, who would be at the left. The right hand was the favored spot. And all the disciples wanted to know. Who would be greatest? Who would get that favored spot?
