Breast-feeding mom Jiang Xiaojuan, has been breastfeeding up to nine of the tiniest earthquake victims, giving them life sustaining milk and a chance to survive. In a very unselfish act, a breastfeeding mom who also happens to be a police officer in China is breastfeeding babies whose mothers are missing, dead or simply to traumatized to feed their precious babies. We all heard about the earthquake in China by now and we are deeply saddened by the news, but how many of us actually thought about the babies that were affected? Personally, I feel this is wonderful the way this breastfeeding mom is helping the smallest victims of the earthquake.
Jiang Xiaojuan is quoted in a CNN article the she did what instinct told her to do as a mom, and her job as a police officer. I like how she said that, and yes, it is a mothers' instinct to help a child in need. I have breastfed my own children and thought I have never breastfed anyone else's children I can honestly say that I would do the same as this mom/officer if a disaster happened and I was breastfeeding.
A quick search for other articles about this unselfish breastfeeding mom Jiang Xiaojuan returns few entries but what is out there is very touching. One of the most touching stories can be found at this site, and there are two images of this woman breastfeeding two different babies. The images will bring a tear to your eyes; they both depict a woman who sees above herself and is giving these poor babies life sustaining breast milk.
While this breastfeeding mom is unselfishly helping these poor orphaned babies and babies whose moms cannot feed them because of the wide spread trauma, her own baby is left behind with relatives so she can work. She knows her own baby is safe with relatives so she is helping other babies eat by breastfeeding them, as formula is in very short supply over there.
