One day I had a job helping out with carpet installation. I purchased a couple of the "Stanley 99E" utility knives. They were the wrong tools for this job, but I am grateful I bought them. What I needed was some carpet knives, and those things are sharper and longer lasting then this "Stanley".Something that is important to me is long lasting, stress handling tools. And the "Stanley 99E" has it. I did one of those tasks were the hammer is used to help with the cutting. My "Stanley" took the beatings and did not crack or chip. The razer blades are strong, but the tips are easy to break off. Its still useful after the tip is broken, but some jobs require that tip.
This knife has a storage area for the blades. And its setup in way that you just open the knife, pick out a new blade, and change it out. That is convenient, because I don't have to search for blades when I need to change it.
In order to keep a sharp blade in it, you have to buy new ones. Being able to swap out the blades is a convenience, but the cost would surprise you. For the convenience of swapping the blades out, I would pick out this knife over one you sharpen. But for the cost of the blades, I would get the knife that gets sharpened.
This knife is very useful. I have used it to cut paper, carve wood, cut string, cut rope, cut fish for bait, stripped wire, cut out a plastic barrel and I used it to help me sew cloth. Its so useful, that when I go anywhere, I like to bring it with me. I will even take it shopping with me. It's the second priority in my pocket, after my pocket bible. And it goes before my wallet.
I have been blessed by God and Jesus Christ to have this knife. If I had the money, I would buy more to keep them in certain places around me. The price I paid was well worth having this knife. Given the choice of a cheaper knife, I would be moved to pick the "Stanley". The quality is just outstanding. And I have not found all of the uses for it.
If you use a knife all the time, I recommend trying this one out. The blades are not strong enough to pry and pick, but its got a razer sharp cutting edge. And you do not have to sharpen this knife, you just change blades. Quick sharp and easy.
