Simple Pleasures in Life Are as Close Your Bible

The last drop of water dripped into the tub just as my eyes began to close in total relaxation. I love that time when you have just turned off the water for your bath and the water slowly drips to a stop. Trying to guess which drop will be the last is one of life's little pleasures. How many simple pleasures like this pass by our awareness every single day?

I have learned that a relationship with Jesus Christ opens up your awareness of these simple pleasures. Knowing that he is looking over my shoulder keeps my mind in a place that can see all the beauty in the world. He is my constant companion. Jesus often reminds me of that friend that always sees the rosy side of life because he finds me a reason to smile at the littlest things.

As I grow older, here are some other simple pleasures that I have noticed with the help of my Faith:

When my daughters climb into my lap and lay their heads on my chest. For some reason that moment is one of the few where all the pains and aches of my body go away and I feel as though the world is still. The love of my daughters is the one thing that is perfect in the world and I pray that it stays that way as they grow older.

The way my wife makes me coffee every single day that she is off of work before I wake up in the morning. Though our years grow longer, I know that this symbolic gesture will follow us as long as we are together and that it is a statement of love. The smell of that morning coffee is ultra special and never smells that nice when I make it for myself. She says it is because it is made with love and I am certain she is right.

Hearing my Dad's voice on the phone once or twice a week is certainly special to me as I do not see him as much these days. When my mother passed, he moved to the house that they were supposed to retire to. That home is a good distance away, but it feels as though someone put the ocean between us as far as getting together sometimes. Life does that though, and those phone calls are special to me as short as they are.
