My daughter will be having her second birthday party on June 6, so I had a lot of thinking to do about her birthday party. My parents are coming from Arizona, and my brother is coming from Alberta. Because she is only turning 2, she will just be spending the day with her family, having cake and opening presents. She loves pink, and she loves Teddy bears, so that is what she is getting for her color and theme! Here are some ideas that I came up with for kids that are a little bit older ... I might need to look back on this in a year or two!!Chose a theme - For girls; Dora The Explorer, Pooh And Friends, Teddy Bears, Princesses, and Care Bears are very popular. Another idea is if your child is in a phase where they are almost obsessed with a certain animal or character. For Boys; Diego (Dora The Explorer's Cousin), Spider man, Superman, and Pooh And Friends are popular too. I would also recommend if their is a character, animal, etc that your boy is almost obsessed with.
Decorations - If you want to go all out and have the extra cash to spend on a specific theme then by all means go to town. Dollar Stores are a great place to find decorations themed, or if their is a specific color/colors your child loves that could work too. Streamers, noise makers, etc are always great for parties.
Cake! - If you can, be sure to get the cake in the theme that your child wants, their favorite color(s), and try to make it their favorite. If you are artistic at all, and your feeling adventurous, you could even save a few bucks by making a cake yourself. Stores often have cake molds with great step by step instructions.
Table Setting - A lot of times you can find paper plates, cups, napkins, table cloths, etc in themes or colors. Best of all no dishes! Some stores are even offering these items on recycled paper so that it isn't so harsh on the environment. Goodie bags come in themed or color bags too in case you want to send your child's friends home with some loot. You and your child could also make a project by making party bags together. Decorating paper bags with paints, sparkles, etc is always fun!
