IRobot Roomba Red - Will I Never Have to Vacuum Again? Time Saver

Roomba Red is the coolest little gadget. I'm not sure if I would recommend it or not, but it is very neat.

I don't like vacuuming. That's why I bought the Roomba Red. I found a good deal on it, which is why I took the chance on Roomba Red.  I was thinking that I would never need to vacuum again, but would get the benefit of clean floors (admittedly, the floors were not very clean without vacuuming). All I would need to do is set Roomba Red to run while I was gone, and I would come back to clean floors.

Well it has not worked out this way entirely. Unless you have completely uncluttered floors, you cannot just press a button and let Roomba Red do it's work. You really need to clear the floor of clutter, move cords & plugs, and make sure there is nothing to get in Roomba Red's way. Depending on how many electronics, potted plants, and chairs you have, this might be a major obstacle. In fact, I am torn if it is easier to prepare your room and run Roomba Red, or if it is easier to just pull out the vacuum and vacuum yourself.

To add more work to the job, you need to empty Roomba Red just about after every use. You also need to comb out the rollers, which is not a quick task. There is a lot to clean up, which really is a testament to how effective Roomba Red vacuums. However, it is also a lot to clean up afterword. The work/effort involved really is not that bad, but the Roomba Red is not the big time saver that I envisioned. Roomba Red takes about the same effort as a vacuum.

Now that being said, Roomba Red does do a great job vacuuming. Roomba Red is extremely thorough, usually going over each spot of carpet two or three times.

Roomba Red also has a spot clean option, which is very convenient. If you have a bad spot, you put Roomba Red there and press the spot clean button. Roomba Red then cleans within a 3-foot circle of the spot.

Overall, Roomba Red is a cool little gadget that does a good job vacuuming your floors. However, I do not recommend it as a useful tool, since the effort to maintain Roomba Red does not save much time versus traditional vacuuming. I do, however, recommend Roomba Red as a cool gadget or if you really hate vacuuming.
