C.O. Bigelow Cinnamint Mentha Lip Shine is one of the newest products in the Mentha Lip line of lip care products from the C.O. Bigelow apothecary. It contains .1% cinnamon oil and .6% peppermint oil for fresh breath. It comes in a red .5oz tube and is sold nationally at Bath & Body Works stores and online. It retails for $7.50 but is often on sale 3 for $15.

The label says, "Our cinnamon and mint-infused lip balm provides a glossy high shine with a refreshing cooling sensation. Lips stay moist and protected while cinnamon and peppermint oil give breath long-lasting freshness".

I bought this product after having purchased C.O. Bigelow's Mentha Lip Shine and My Favorite Lip Balm products and having great success. It has certainly lived up to its older sibling's success.

The cinnamon and peppermint scents are very noticeable upon opening the tube. The tube has a slanted applicator and the gel goes on smoothly. There is a tingling sensation from the peppermint oil, but no discomfort or burning. My lips feel moisturized and soft right away. The peppermint scent is not overwhelming and the cinnamon is prominent.

I have extremely chapped lips that are allergic to most lip products and this balm does not irritate my lips. It soothes and moisturizes them without drying them out. It has greatly helped to repair my sore lips. It works similarly to regular petroleum jelly in forming a protective barrier on my lips. It takes a long time to dry out so it's great to wear on a windy day, while enjoying outside activity and sports, and for those who breathe exclusively through their mouth (which is a main reason for getting severely chapped lips to begin with).

The breath freshening aspects of this product are greatly played up. While the peppermint is very noticeable, unless you lick your lips or actually eat the balm, it doesn't really freshen your actual breath. It just makes the mouth area a little more pleasing.

This is not a product to wear when you plan on kissing someone who doesn't like cinnamon or peppermint as it will rub off on them.
