I had the perfect opportunity to talk to Melissa Erwin, a licensed Esthetician and make-up artist from California about life and ligloss, and here is what she had to say...Sarah: Tell me a little about yourself and your individual background...
Melissa: I've been in the beauty industry for about 6 years now dealing with many aspects of the industry such as skin care and of course makeup. I am a licensed Medical Assistant and Esthetician. I am the wife of a military man so needless to say we've moved around quit a bit. Living in California for 4 years I had the privilege of working for two highly sought after physician's in Beverly Hills, one of which is a plastic surgeon and the other a dermatologist. I feel like there is so much to learn still and I strive to keep myself educated.
Sarah: Behind every artist (in this case, make-up artist) lies a major source of inspiration and influence. Tell me, what influenced you to become a make-up artist?
Melissa: I know this may sound crazy but every since I was a little girl I have always been drawn to the elderly. I could sit for hours at a time and listen to the stories that many of them would tell about their younger years. While listening in such awe to their stories, I would be painting their fingernails or brushing their hair..you know, whatever I could do to make them feel happy. That just kind of stuck with me. I love making people feel good about themselves and no matter who you are you should be able to feel good about yourself. I have the magic touch!!
Sarah: We know that make-up is your passion, but what other things in life are you passionate about?
Melissa: my 14 year old son and my husband are very important people in my life and of course I am very passionate about sharing my life and love with the two of them. I am really just the kind of person that has passion for life and everything in it.
Sarah: That is wonderful Melissa and definitely a great asset to have. Now...Moving onto make-up, tell me, out of all of the make-up "wrongs", what is the biggest beauty don't'?
