Fourth of July Fireworks in NYC

About the Macy's Fireworks and Where to View Then

To be in New York City on July Fourth is to have the privilege of seeing a spectacular fireworks show. Sponsored by the famous department store Macy's, the 4th of July fireworks get better each year, and never fail to amaze.
They shoot off 14,000 aerial shells from barges in the East River. It is a dazzling display. Some have even said it is the nicest firework display in the country. They basically start after the sun sets, in previous years about 9:00pm

You need to position yourself very early and in the right place. You should probably plan to be where you are by 7pm. Remember: several thousand other people have the same plans. And, you might want to bring a folding beach chair, if possible.

If money is no object, you can take a paddleboat cruise on the East River, where you will have a clear unobstructed view. For $125, Lower Deck Productios presents a "4th of July Independence Cruise", aboard the "Paddle Wheel Queen", docking at the SkyPort Marina [E. 23 St and FDR Drive], includes free buffet and open bar. You can book it on the website, or call 917-567-7459.

So now is the time to hit up your friends who live in high-floor apartments on the East Side overlooking the river, or an accessible roof, from which to view this amazing light show. Or you can go [early] to any of these spots:

Oh, and bring your camera because you will get some great shots. These Fourth of July fireworks are well worth the wait and the planning. Have a fun July 4th!!
