I was born in New York City and raised in Texas. Most people view me as being a stereotypical conservative Texan who is in love with guns and a die hard fan of Bush. Anyone who actually took the time out to get to know me would soon come to find that I mock President Bush on a daily basis and it actually quite ashamed he originates from my great state of Texas.www.associate I was born a liberal and raised a conservative and that allows me to see both sides of the picture. But, even for me, I would not support Bush or Kerry simply on the basis that both would make unfit presidents. In the piece titled, Who Deserves to Be Kicked Out of the Country First: Immigrants or the Non-Voting US Citizen?, by Jennifer Lynn Bonacci, she slams people who don’t vote as “fools riddled with ignorance.” I beg to differ.

I graduated from one of the top three private schools in the state of Texas at the top of my class and like most Texans, had rich friends, a nice home, fancy cars, and could do basically whatever I wanted when I wanted. However, I am also not a spoiled little brat and on the contrary am quite modest because of my Asian roots. However, I believe that it is our own individual right not to vote. In the last election, I personally along with many of my friends felt that neither candidate was even relatively qualified to serve as the president of this great nation and felt by not voting, we would in a way voice our opinions about how we felt for the candidates. On the other hand, I did have many friends who voted for Bush, not because they thought he would make a better president than Kerry, but because he was from Texas, but more importantly because he was hotter than Kerry. Now, would you rather have citizens vote based on which candidate is hotter, who not vote at all? Personally, I would have them not vote at all.

Tthere are other options out there, rather than not voting. By soliciting your congress man or woman you can help to initialize the bring to the ballot the binding None of the above option this way you can show the candidates that you do not agree with them and that you dont want them in office .As of today there is only one state that has this option . Nevada there it is non binding ,but hey they get to register their displease but it is current in the Uk. France Germay and Spain . Russia repeeled it this last month for whatever reasons. Not voting is'nt wrong it is a right we only need to practice it loudly enough to be heard.

I really wish for deportation every day. I used to work in a super market, and the amount of illegals that came in that used governmental money for WIC services made me sick. I think about every 9/10 people using WIC checking were illegal immigrants. Also, there is a spot down the main road where illegals hang out and wait for people to pick them up for work, there's so many. I guess it annoys me because I have known people that came into my school that WAITED on a waiting list to come into this country, and then down the hall there was English As A Second Language kids earning their high school diploma doing absolutley nothing, most of them seemed to be illegals. This is my perspective, you dont need to take it seriously. But someone who doesnt vote may be have an on-the-fence opinion, and someone like that is me. And yes, I am eligible to vote.

how can an illegal immigrant vote? And if they are legal then they probably work. I am sure the vote of anyone that is hard on their luck can be bought just as easily as an immigrants, and anyway what proof do you have about their votes being easily bought. Plus you are really talking about mexicans so why do you say immigrants? Surely you don't mean and Irish immigrant or someone from France or Australia, they are probably ok by you. Also have you thought about what would happen to the US if you just kicked out all the immigrants or what I really should say are mexicans and other central americans. You would have no one to clean your house, no one to do your gardening, clean your pool, pick your fruit, muck out your horses they do the crap jobs that no one else wants to do.

Oh, one more thing - to complain about Mexicans in Texas and California is really outrageous, since these states were stolen from Mexico in the Mexican-American War, which was an unprovoked, illegal war of conquest. This fact was even recognized at the time, both by politicians such as Abraham Lincoln and by fighting men, such as Ulysses Grant, who called it ""one of the most unjust ever waged by a stronger against a weaker nation" and one of the causes of the American Civil War: "The occupation, separation and annexation [of Texas] were ... a conspiracy to acquire territory out of which slave states might be formed for the American Union."

What a bizarre argument! This has always been what people say about immigrants in this country - when my parents came they were hardworking and tried to assimilate, but today's immigrants can't be assimilated and don't understand democracy and don't want to work. This was said of the Irish, the Jews, the Italians, the Eastern Europeans, in short, of every group that has ever come. People said the same thing about Asian immigrants. In fact, people felt so strongly that the Asian immigrants were ruining America - they called it "The Yellow Peril" that they passed a law forbidding Asians from coming, and forbidding those who were here from ever naturalizing. It was called the Asian Exclusion Act. And it didn't happen in some distant corner of history - it happened in the 1920s. For shame that you should make such an argument!

I would think any persons vote could be bought ,not just an immigrants. Also as far as immigrants living in the streets begging for money that is not the way it usually is.They are the ones working the low paying jobs that Americans do not want to do. Politicians pay off people to vote for them every day thats why the voting system is so flawed. Even if we had no immigrants there would still be people buying other peoples votes.I didn't see where you provided any reason to think immigrant vote buying was happening.

You provide no support for the claim that immigrant votes are easily bought. What makes you think this?

I am a non-voter I just feel the american vote no longer counts. The politicians do what they please because we the people alow it...
