Everyone procrastinates at some point in their lives. We all put off tasks we do not want to do. There is no one who enjoys every single task they must perform. It is human nature to want to do the things we like to do first. Some people are able to overcome that feeling and carry out unpleasant tasks in a timely manner. Others put off the tasks until the last possible minute or don’t do them at all.
I, myself, do not look forward to performing unpleasant or boring tasks. I used to always put them on the back burner while I did the things I wanted to do first. Some of the disagreeable tasks never made it to my priority list. I had to make my list longer and longer to accommodate all the tasks that remained undone. Finally, I realized that I had to address my procrastination, as my list of uncompleted tasks far surpassed the things I was accomplishing.
The first thing I did was to ask myself why I couldn’t seem to get around to doing some tasks on my list. My biggest problem turned out to be that I was overwhelmed by the magnitude of the task or that I disliked it so much I didn’t want to do it.
