New Doctor Who Books Announced
Doctor Who, the popular British television show, has produced not only television episodes and movies but also audio dramas and books. There have been novels that have covered his early adventures, with 3rd Doctor Jon Pertwee or 4th Doctor Tom Baker. I've
even seen comic book adventures with Tom Baker's 4th Doctor at the local comic book shop, Not Just Comix. I've long listed to the online BBC7 Internet Radio and catching Paul McGann and Sheridan Smith as The 8th Doctor and his traveling companion Lucie Miller. The first stories I heard were magnificent and I fell in love with another Doctor. The 9th and 10th on television were marvelous, however the 8th Doctor, the one I remembered most and made the biggest impression on me in his one appearance in that 1996 movie was my doctor. The stories with Lucie Miller, whom your mind could just see, were wonderful beyond words. We knew Rose Tyler from the television series, however Lucie Miller was a saucy young lad who wasn't taking crap from anyone. It was amazing.
I had seen the books at Borders with the 9th Doctor and Rose and the 10th Doctor and Rose. I never bought any of them. My money was saved for Doctor Who Magazine, where I could catch up on all the goings on behind the scenes. I was always a lover of books. I read the Star Wars Extended Universe novels. The Star Trek novels still hold a place in my library. The Planet of the Apes novels, but don't get me wrong it is not all science fiction. I have The Omen Series of novels, The Collected Works of Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsburg along with a helping of William S. Burroughs, Charles Bukowski, and Neal Cassady. I just wasn't sure about the Doctor Who novels. But then one day I was finally intrigued enough and I picked up one with the 10th Doctor and Martha Jones, it was called The Last of the Dodo and it was wonderful. It had the same pace, adventure, heart, and style of the television show. Send me an e-mail or comment and I will give you my review of that novel, however this article is about the recent announcement of three new novels coming about with the 10th Doctor and Donna Noble, his newest companion.
