Two US Senators Are Trying to Raise Your Gas Prices Even More

Independent Senator Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut and Republican Senator John Warner of Virginia

Do you think $4.00 a gallon for gas is too high? Two United States Senators must disagree with you, and they are trying to raise the price you pay for gas even more. Independent Senator Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut (Remember him, he once ran for
Vice President as a Democrat before becoming an Independent?) and Republican Senator John Warner of Virginia have proposed a bill that studies say would raise the price of a gallon of gas from 53 cents a gallon to $1.10 a gallon. Isn't it all time we said enough to this nonsense and let our own Senators know we oppose this?

I know the two Senators would say they have noble intentions in trying to raise our gas prices. They would say it's all about saving the planet from global warming. They would ask if it isn't worth paying even a little bit more than the outrageous prices that we already do to save us from ourselves. Their bill, the America's Security Climate Act would place limits on the amount of gas and other fossil fuels Americans can use, in an effort to cut the amount of carbon monoxide in the air and reduce global warming.

The bill is scheduled to be debated June 2. It would take effect in 2012. Prices would certainly have to rise to reduce demand and help meet restrictions. Don't you believe the words the two Senators might use about how their bill would benefit society. The facts remain that a study by the Heritage Foundation estimates that the bill would cause gas prices to rise by $1.10 a gallon by 2030, while the National Environmental Protection Agency estimates prices would rise by 53 cents a gallon.

While many people who speak out on the issue of global warming, like Al Gore, speak with the voice of authority, even though they are not scientists, I do not pretend to be a scientist. I do know, however, that while many scientists speak of global warming, others are not convinced. I also know that some scientists acknowledge that 2008 will be a cooler year than 2007. Some scientists even believe that is a trend that will continue for some time. Why are so many people panicking over this to a degree that they are willing to raise our gas prices even higher? This is insane!

It's outrageous. I just did my Ultimate Call for Content article on "global warming" (fact or fiction)? I'm sure many people won't like it! Hey, Just a little more info on gas prices, FYI - In England and some other places in Europe, I believe they've been paying the equivalent of $5 per gallon for quite some time. PLUS the British pay approximately 75% of their earnings in income tax. They've got it worse than us!
