On The Day of the Fourth of July, Scores of towns across America have a day-long celebration with a parade, food booths, bands, games and contests. The festivities usually finish on the note of sparkling lights exploding in the brunette sky in a magnificent display of fireworks put on by the city. Sometimes they will have dances as well. Here in the south the citizens are full of the swing and line dancing culture. Being a Saint Louis Native myself, It was a little strange coming to the Boothill of Missouri and seeing this kind of stuff at first. Soon, you get used to it, and you learn to embrace it with love.

After the Fourth of July parades, and before the public fireworks, many families and social groups have private gatherings, picnics, barbeques and parties. No matter which events that you decide to place in your special day of the celebration of freedom, there is without a doubt plenty for us to do on Independence Day, even if it is in a small town. Besides, It is a day to declare our Liberty, regardless of where we live in America!

Although visiting famous sites on "The Fourth" is popular, there is much as well to do in small-medium towns such as Poplar Bluff, Missouri. You can always, if you wish, head up north about one hundred and seventy miles to Saint Louis to celebrate your independence with a larger crowd or you can head over to Branson. Poplar Bluff is also not too far from Cape Girardeau, But you don't have to do that to have fun while living in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Almost every small town has some kind of festival, AND POPLAR BLUFF, MISSOURI DOES LIKE TO GET ITS GAME ON!!!

As you drive, walk, or ride your bike down the streets of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, you'll see many people celebrating in different ways such as displaying flags. Family after family will be having cookouts on the grill while mamas and grandmothers are baking flag cakes and star cookies. Some families decide to stay at home and watch the parades being broadcasted. Others decide to get out and get involved in the action.
