Most of us pack away our winter clothes when summer arrives then go shopping for new, cooler designs. But, with the prices of everything skyrocketing who has money for new summer clothes? Instead of spending money on a new wardrobe just wear your winter clothes this year. No, don't smother all summer, use a simple no-cut, no-sew technique that lets you instantly change some winter items into sexy summer shirts.

The perfect shirt for this technique would be a thin shirt with long sleeves. Henleys and similar shirts are ideal. The shirt should have a scoop neck and no buttons or zippers. The front of the shirt, as well as the sleeves, can have images or prints. Striped shirts aren't as suitable as prints or solids. Avoid anything with a v-neck or a collar.

It's easy to tie the shirt onto yourself and create the sexy summer design. Simply hold the shirt up in front of you, with the front facing outward, and wrap the long sleeves around the back. Cris-cross the sleeves at the back, then bring them back around to the front, tying them together above the bust. There you go! The shirt covers the front, but leaves the back completely open, except for the cris-cross of the sleeves. If, while tying the shirt on, you realize that the back of the shirt neck is slightly above the front of the scoop neck, you can just fold the back neck area down somewhat, then proceed to tie on the shirt.

The shirt will cover a person from one side seam to the other, with no risk of fall-out, since the cris-cross of the sleeves keeps the shirt snug from side to side. The shirts can be worn with a strapless bra or a cris-cross arrangement.

You don't have to stick with that one design when it comes to turning jerseys into summer tops. However, other designs require cutting and hemming with machine or fabric glue. The shirt can be cut to waist length or halter length. Or, have a friend help you and simply fold the hem up, tie the shirt on, and go. With the open back you'll find hip or waist necklaces look great with the shirt design.

Takeaways
  • Some long sleeve shirts can be made into sexy summer shirts.
  • The shirt you choose should have no buttons or zippers.
  • Tie the shirt onto you and cris-cross the sleeves in the back.

Or, you could have summer and winter clothes that never have to be put away. I still have the same summer clothes that I did seven years ago.

Wouldn't a shirt have to have some really loooong sleeves? Or maybe I'm just too busty.
