Cheap Pedicure!
Save that $25 a Month!
I have never been one to spend much on beauty treatments. At 42, I'd never invested in a manicure or pedicure. I have always been neat, clean and used cosmetics, but just never thought much about nail care beyond cleanliness.
My feet had always been calloused. It bothered me, but I generally ignored it. With four kids, there just never seemed to be time or money to have a pedicure. So my feet continued to get rougher, cracked and uglier. Which is a pity because I consider my feet one of my nicest features.
I tried pumice stones and emory boards, but they only scratched the surface (literally!). They just didn't get all the dead skin. They wore it down, but for someone with the depth of callouses that I had, it wasn't a solution.
Inevitably, the callouses became very painful. The cracks were deep and I was concerned about infection. It hurt to walk. I knew it was time to get some help, if only to relieve the discomfort and avoid infection.
I went to a local nail salon and paid the $25! The manicurist soaked and scraped about a pound of skin away! But she advised me to receive further treatments as the cracks were so deep that she was concerned that they might bleed.
The soak and massage felt wonderful and my feet looked fabulous! But I knew that I couldn't afford weekly or even monthly pedicures! So my new sleek feet were only temporary.
I went home and whined to a friend about my dilemma. She surprised me with an amazingly simple solution! It was one of those 'now why didn't I think of that?!' solutions.
She suggested that I purchase a package of cheap shaver-razors and shave the dead skin away! The benefits with this system are three-fold. Not only does it cost less, but it's really safer! By doing it myself, I can feel just how deep to pare the skin.
