A Mini Career Biography of Winona Ryder

Winona is just 37 years old but she has had one heck of a ride along the way. She has appeared in many tv shows and many more movies. She has worked with some of the best actors/actresses in Hollywood. Although she has had her share of bad publicity, she remains to be a well sought out actress.

Her first movie was "Lucas" which was released in 1986. Corey Haim, Kerri Green, Charlie Sheen and Courtney Thorne-Smith also starred in this one. The film was a hit with the young kids because it was about a nerdy boy who doesn't back down when it comes to the school bullies.

Her next film was in released in 1987. It was "Square Dance." In this movie she played a 13 year old girl who has lived in the country with her Grandfather for years. Then her mother comes around and takes her away to the city, where she meets a mentally retarded boy played by Rob Lowe.

Her next film and probably one that most people remember her from was "BeetleJuice" which was released in 1988 and also starred Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Michael Keaton, Catherine O'Hara and Jeffrey Jones. She had a pretty big role in this one. She played a teenage gothic type girl who moves into a house in which the couple that lived there died. She can see and talk to them and they build a wonderful relationship with each other. Juliette Lewis also auditioned for the part of Lydia, which Winona played. Winona was of course perfect for this part.

Next came "1969" which was released in 1988. Robert Downey Jr., Kiefer Sutherland and Bruce Dern were also in this movie. This was about two brothers on opposite sides of the Vietnam War.

Another big role for Winona was the one she played in "Heathers." Her co-stars included Christian Slater and Shannen Doherty. This was a big hit with teens. It was all about her wanting to fit in with the popular Heather's. She wants to be as popular as them, but at the same time despises them. When she starts dating Jason Dean (played by Christian Slater) she ends up involved in murders that are being covered up as suicides.
