Hip Hop Dance Class

As someone with little rhythm, I am always looking for a way to add some groove to my life! I started looking for classes, online or in the yellow pages when I saw a commercial for Dance Trance. It looked like so much fun, and had all the hip hop moves I could handle. The commercial showed a class full of people dancing and made it look easy. Which we all know is not true for someone with little dance experience.

Dance Trance, while local to Jacksonville, has other locations as well. And they have classes for all levels. For those with little or no experience there is the Beginners Class, or P.A.C.E. which stands for Practice, Attitude, Confidence, and Enthusiasm. This is a 3 month long course that introduces the basic steps, as well as instruction on flexibility and stretching.

The second program offered is the Dance Trance Breakdown. This class is offered twice a week and goes over the huge variety of routines, teaches new steps and give the student a better grasp in order to get more out of the regular classes. This is the class that I began with, the instructor was fantastic and really breaking it down, so to speak! Each class goes over 3-4 routines, first in regular tempo, then each section is broken down and gone over several times. Allowing for questions and plenty of practice.

Next up is the regular Dance Trance class. This is open to ages 13 and up and all levels of experience. This is described as a "Loud High Energy Dance Experience" . I would recommend taking one of the first two programs to get a real idea of what you are in for. The moves are fast, and some are complicated. Standing still is not an option! Not that you would want to. The music is infectious and watching from the back for a few minutes will have you moving your toes. Even if its in the wrong direction!

There is also a Dance Trance Kids! A hip hop fitness class targeted towards 7-12 yr olds. And with the return of the popular summer show "So You Think You Can Dance", this is the perfect class for kids that want to give dance a try and find out if they are cut out for the life of a Hip Hop dance star!
