The Five Most Affectionate Dog Breeds

Although all dog breeds have the potential to be loyal, loving companions, certain dog breeds stand out as being particular affectionate with their owners. If you're looking for a dog who loves nothing better than to
snuggle next to you on the couch, you may want to consider one of these affectionate dog breeds:

Most affectionate dog breed: The Golden Retriever

If you're looking for a larger dog that's affectionate and loving, you can't go wrong with a Golden Retriever. Supremely loyal, these golden haired dogs not only adore the adults in their family but have infinite patience with children. Plus, they're large enough to snuggle with on the couch with you on those cold winter evenings. They're also active enough to be your companion on a variety of excursions from a good outdoor run to trail hiking. As if that isn't enough, they're quite intelligent and easy to train. No wonder they're one of America's most popular dogs.

Most affectionate dog breed: The Labrador Retriever

This is another affectionate, large dog breed who wouldn't hesitate to curl up on your lap if they weren't so large! Labradors make excellent family dogs since they're generally quite patient and tolerant of the antics of children and tend to be easy to train and obedient. Labs almost always make the top ten lists of most intelligent dog breeds. With proper training, the Labrador retriever is an ideal family dog.

Most affectionate dog breed: The Doberman

Most people have images of the Doberman pinscher as being an aggressive dog but if well trained, they are intensely loyal and affectionate towards their family although they have the potential to be aggressive towards strangers. Dobermans love to cuddle and tend to experience signs of separation anxiety when they're away from you. If properly trained, the Doberman will be your loyal protector for life.

Most affectionate dog breed: The Brittany Spaniel

Good article. Our Australian Shepherd is a very loving and devoted dog. We had a Boarder Collie for 16 years and she was also very loving. I think any dog that has been loved and given a good home can be very affectionate.

i have 2 of the biggest cuddlers and both are not what most would consider being cuddle type. I have a rottwieller and a pitbull both if you pat beside you to come cuddle, can't dive in beside you fast enough. all dogs can be cuddlers it depends on who and how they raised!!!my 60 pound pittbull thinks she a lapdog

All great dogs, but I see you didn't include the Great Dane. In many dog circles, these "gentle giants" are considered the most affectionate. The one I was friends with was the biggest baby of a dog I'd ever known! He'd sit in my lap, even though he outweighed me.

I think lab should be first!!! My loveable lab has her 'own' couch and sometimes she allows me to share it with her! If you have a lab be prepared - they can find a mud puddle a mile away!

Ah! Certainly a great, great title! Whether or not the dog breeds you list are the most affectionate. I will always remember my toy chihuahua.
