Hot Summer 2008 Concerts: Radiohead, Coldplay, Wilco, Pearl Jam and STP
Across the nation, temperatures are rising, and so is the anticipation for this summer's slate of concerts. For music maniacs across America, this season is the most wonderful time of the year, as myriad bands will be hitting the road and creating some heat of their own. And while every
summer usually boasts a number of bands with numerous dates across the country, 2008 should be especially exciting, as a few artists that haven't been touring lately are returning to the road. And now, without further filler, five must-see shows for this summer:
RADIOHEAD
The band that shook up the music industry by allowing fans to name their price for their latest studio effort, In Rainbows, is set to make some noise on the road, running through an impressive 36 engagements this summer. While many of the shows will be overseas, Radiohead will spend the entirety of August in North America, performing 24 concerts in big cities such as New York and Chicago, as well as smaller markets such as Auburn, WA, and Camden, NJ. According to the band, it will be picking from a set list that includes 70 songs, spanning every studio effort from Pablo Honey to In Rainbows. In addition, the band will throwing a few new, unreleased songs into their shows as well.
PEARL JAM
After playing only a few dates throughout last year (partly due to lead singer Eddie Vedder's solo outings), Pearl Jam is returning to the road. Though the band is only scheduled for 13 concerts so far, fans who venture to see the band aren't likely to be disappointed, especially if they catch Pearl Jam on June 14, when they will be joined by other musical giants such as Sigur Ros, Metallica, Kanye West, Derek Trucks and countless others at the Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, TN. And while it's nice to see the band retaking the road after some time off, the tour is concentrated on the east coast; Bonnaroo is the farthest point west Pearl Jam will perform this summer.
