Here are some signs that you are turning into the old person that you swear you never would. When two older couples go out, the women sit in the back of the car and the men sit in the front. You stop trying to put hair color in your hair. You watch TV in one room and your spouse sits in the other and you yell back and forth because neither of you can hear as well. You find yourself rubbernecking to discover things that are not your business. You start watching what is happening in your next door neighbors backyard. Maybe you spend time peaking out your door or window to see what is happening in your neighborhood. You start checking the obituaries from the surrounding areas to see if any of your friends have kicked the bucket. Worst yet, you have to make decisions on whether to attend their funeral or not.
When someone asks you a question, you stare back like in a trance and then, start a conversation on something totally opposite of the question they just asked.
You stop driving at night because you feel unsafe about your driving. Maybe you have the fear of breaking down in the dark. You become like the old person that use to drive so slow that you couldn't wait to pass them. You treat "Yield" signs like stop signs. Do you hear people yell at you "come on grandma let's go."?
You start choosing darker colors in your clothes or house decorations. You don't use as many lights in your house. You start wearing clothes that someone older would be wearing. Long sleeve shirts, long dresses become the attire of the day. You find yourself wearing the same clothes everyday. There is no need to dress up. You start wearing hats every time you go outside to protect yourself from those deadly ultraviolet rays that can cause skin cancer.
When asked how you are feeling, you go into a long account of your present medical history. Others, that are listening to you, would swear that you already have one foot in the grave. You now every a symptom of every illness that has been discovered. A small medical procedure, now becomes a major issue in your life
