Product Review: Smart Ones Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Sundae

"Low-fat cookie-flavored ice cream over a crumbly cookie crust topped with fudge sauce with cookie dough crumbles."

Sound good? It did to me too. This Weight Watch desert was voted best ice cream sundae in the Top 100 Best Packaged Food for women by Women's Health Magazine in 2007. So I decided to check it out on my quest for really good diet conscious frozen deserts.

Cookie Dough flavor ice cream isn't my favorite but this desert has enough chocolate flavor to please me. The nice thing about Weight Watchers Smart Ones deserts is that they are satisfying I have found. Point being, I can remember eating one 5 minutes after I'm done even though the portion is small. If you are enamored of cookie dough you should like this just fine. It's rich in flavor and the cookie dough crumbles were tasty. I honestly can't say this will become my favorite diet desert but it was good none the less.

Nutritionally, this sundae makes the grade although I wish the calorie count was lower.

It comes in at 170 calories a serving, with 30 of those from fat. It has 3 g total fat; 1.5 g of saturated fat, no trans fat nor polyunsaturated fat, 1 g of mono unsaturated fat; 5 mg cholesterol; 100 mg sodium; 32 g of carbohydrates; 1 g of dietary fiber, 15 g of sugar and 3 g of protein. It also contains 8% calcium and 4 % iron. The amount of sodium is a problem for me so I can't indulge in this desert too often. This seems to be a problem common to many diet foods, unfortunately.
