Wineries in the State of Illinois were discussed, with emphasis on the fine wineries in Southern Illinois. In the article http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/68807/illinois_wine_and_wineries_offers_a.html,,  In this article I would like to continue the discussion of Illinois, particularly  the fine wineries in the northern section of the state.

The wineries in Illinois have become much more sophisticated and refined then you might expect.  Some of the wineries produce wines with their own Illinois vineyards, from the rich earth of Illinois.  Some of the wineries bring in grapes from other areas, depending on what kind of grape is needed and where it is grown.

The six wineries in this article are family owned and operated, and each offers it's own unique charm.   The family owned wineries offer fine wine and take pride in the product they produce and their part in enhancing the enjoyment of the good life.

These Illinois wineries produce fine, award winning wines.  they each operate their own tasting rooms, so you can sample their vintages.  If you get a chance to visit, you can often meet the proprietors, who are happy to talk to you about their wines and explain the vintages.
