A Simple Ironic American Solution

Growing Old and Needing to Work

And they all lived happily ever after. Shoot the fool who wrote this folly that we, the "Baby Boomer's", were weaned on. Perhaps the message should have read, "And they all look forward to poverty".

Boomer's are in a death spiral shaped by a lack of political trust and confidence, fueled by outrageous gas prices, foreclosure and mainstream job opportunity loss. Our politicians have gone so far as to determine that God has no place in our schools, federal buildings and their rulings.
By their actions, our legislators have demonstrated we are no longer one nation under God. Makes sense since their actions have also made us divisible.

It is no wonder that many Americans face homelessness, foreclosure, rocketing fuel and food prices and an uncertain future on the traditional job market. Boomer's in their fifties and sixties are faced with accepting unemployment checks. The use of food stamps is being whispered amongst us. It all makes me wonder what our forefathers are now thinking. We do know what our enemies are thinking and doing.

As a bona fide member of the Boomer nation, I have recognized that my retirement is out of reach. This revelation comes at a time when more and more seniors who are closing in on retirement age will instead need to earn income in order to survive. What makes manners worse is the job market has changed and our marketability as a workforce has diminished. The evolution of the computer and Internet has adversely affected the traditional role played by our seniors.

The Nixon-Kennedy debates of 1960 altered how we view and elect our candidates. This was a pivotal event in U.S. history and made us ponder the role of television in democratic life. Well, my fellow trampled Americans; the development of the Internet is our event.
