The Dixie Chicks Vs. Country Music Fans

    I recently came across Superdork's article Why the Dixie Chicks Got Exactly What They Deserved and thought it was an interesting read. I both agreed and disagreed with Superdork. Here's a breakdown.

When all is said and done, Natalie Maines's comment that she was ashamed the President was from her home state of Texas didn't really bother me that much. I don't entirely agree with some of the political views Maines and the other Chicks have expresed – though I don't entirely disagree with them either – but I'm a big girl. I understand that not everyone is going to agree with my views all the time. If I refused to enjoy the entertainment made by all the people who had different beliefs than me well, I wouldn't have a lot of choices out there. I didn't think the Chicks needed to be kicked out of the country for what they said and I still don't think there's anything inherently un-American about criticizing the government.
