If you have a little one you are currently potty training then its time to have a potty training chart. Not just any old chart, but something fun and exciting that your child can look forward to placing stickers on every time they successfully use the potty. Here are a few ideas of what kind of potty training charts you can make.

First don't just make a boring chart. No toddler in their right mind is going to respond very well to that. There is nothing exciting in it for them. Take them out and shop for some fun stickers and colors for paper. To decorate and draw the chart itself use a large piece of poster board and some markers. Create some space for your child to join in the coloring fun. Try using some glitter or gluing pictures to the chart, such as baby pictures so your child can see just how big of a kid they are.

Next make a rewards section. The reward itself doesn't have to be anything fancy or be a big deal - this is an easily pleased toddler we're talking about here! Maybe for every few days to every week your child doesn't have an accident you can take them out for ice cream or a candy bar. Not into the sugar reward? Try letting them pick what is for dinner or lunch and maybe even let them help make it.

How your child reaches their reward is going to differ from child to child. Some children have mastered number two and need help controlling number one urges and knowing what signs to look for. Other children are simply unable to withdraw from their current activity in order to use the potty. And for some - they just simply don't care about the potty. In the last case it may be too early to potty train at all. Whatever your child needs to work on make that their goal and the reward a reachable one. Don't expect your child to move mountains, especially if you've just started.
