The highly popular television show Desperate Housewives is full of intrigue, murder and sexual indulgence within a suburban community. How many are watching the show? Millions, if you look at the ratings.

As addicting as the show is, how far off from reality are we? Well, unless you have decided to abandon all sources of communication, just turn on your digital cable. Any of our major talk show hosts, like Dr. Phil or Oprah will give you a reality check.

We are emulating the same intrigue, murders and sexual indulgence in real life, that the supposedly make believe shows are protraying. Better yet, just pick up your local newspapers, you don’t need television for this same source of entertainment. We recently had a smörgåsbord of exposing older female teachers having sex with under age male students. And lets not forget married men like Scott Peters murdering pregnant wives to be with their much younger prettier lovers. How about the segment on Oprah’s where your nice suburban mom carpool’s girl-scouts by day, but is a swinger by night?

While watching these television programs as we anticipate what will happen on our next segment of Nip \Tuck or Grey’s Anatomy, think about this; has television gone too far? Will we all decide to bury bodies in our back yards and have sex with our married neighbors? And does fantasy, emulate life or is it the other way around?

With that said, lets talk about what not to do so that we are not all considered, desperate housewives. First, don’t bury anyone in your backyard or your neighbors? After divorcing someone don’t remarry him or her so that your neighbor can't have him. Make sure there is more than one singled man in the neighborhood. And last but not least, leave the landscaping boy along.

I think it is the opposite, TV is just mirroring American society.
