There is good news for consumers with and without health insurances. Wal-Mart has just launched their new $4.00 generic prescription drug plan. Are you wondering what the catch is? There really isn't any catch. The plan works like this.
Wal-Mart has released an extensive list of about 291 generic prescription drugs. They will be selling these drugs for $4.00 for a 30 day prescription. What drugs are on this list? Many popular drugs have made it to this list from medicines for cardiac problems, antidepressants to even thyroid problems.
The plan began in the Florida based Wal-Mart stores, but now Wal-Marts in a dozen other states have begun using the plan, including Ohio.
To find out if your local Wal-Mart, is taking part in this plan, just call the pharmacy. If your local Wal-Mart pharmacy is taking part in this new plan, the staff at the pharmacy can answer any questions you have. They also can provide you with a sheet of all the medications that is on this plan and if you choose to have your generic prescriptions switch to their pharmacy, they can handle on the details for you.
Wal-Mart is not the only super chain that is going to help consumers save money on prescription drugs. Target has also announced that they will match Wal-Mart's $4.00 drug plan while Kmart says that they will begin selling their 90 day supply of generic prescription drugs for $15.00. Yet, do you wonder why these super chains are doing this. Are they doing this to help us the consumer or are they doing it to make more money.
Realistically, you know they are doing it to make more money. If you asked most people will state that they get their prescriptions filled at pharmacies such as CVS, Rite Aid or Walgreens, instead of a big national chain like Wal-Mart. Then if you asked these same people if they generally choose generic prescriptions over name brand prescriptions they will tell you yes.
Wal-Mart and the other super chains decided they needed to help corner the market a little. And what is the better way of doing that then giving us the consumer a price break?
