So you're looking to save money with a do it yourself wedding reception but don't have a crafty bone in your body? Have no fear, the perfect wedding centerpieces are only a few clicks away. With help from a few online vendors and a little personal style, you can turn that dull tabletop into a candle-lit garden fit for the classiest of affairs--without breaking the bank.

Wedding Centerpieces: What you'll need.

• Glass Jars or Vases (variety of sizes)
How to get 'em on the cheap: Beg, borrow, and steal. (Well, don't steal, but do check out your local thrift shops where you can pick up an eclectic mix of vases that will typically set you back between one and five dollars apiece.)

• Flowers (colors and varieties depend on your wedding theme or decor)
How to get 'em on the cheap: If you're flexible, check out the local farmer's market. Often markets will carry a wide variety of fresh-cut flowers for very reasonable prices. Go a week or so in advance and talk to some of the growers, tell them what you're up to. They may be able to predict what they'll have in stock and hold some aside for you on the morning of your big day. Keep in mind, this option is not for the faint of heart (or the bride who has her mind set on a certain bloom).

• Small Paper Lanterns
How to get 'em on the cheap: Buy in bulk! Companies like Oriental Trading Company (orientaltradingcompany.com) carry mini white paper lanterns for about $10 a dozen.

• Flameless Tea light Candles
How to get 'em on the cheap: I'll say it again, buy in bulk. First check out Ebay for these LED tea lights that "burn" up to 72 hours. The flame-free, venue-friendly lights can also be found at batteryoperatedcandles.net. For added realism, order flickering bulbs.

I appreciate that you didn't assume your reader would know things like, "Your tallest flowers should be about one and a half to two times the height of the vase." The addition of an excellent photo made this a top notch how-to article.

Great suggestions. I especially like your addition of "how to get them cheap". Welcome to AC and thank you for sharing.
