Are you a songwriter? Are you a singer wishing to release your own material? Many sites offer tips on getting started and many offer resources to get your music out there. However, very few give you enough hints and direction to actually do it without spending hours researching information. Getting your demo EP or a complete LP recorded and distributed isn't as hard as you may think. With major record label contracts no longer being necessary to release a record, anyone who thinks they have what it takes to pursue a music career can do this on their own. Beginning the recording journey starts with a song. Songs can send any message you wish. They can be about your darkest secrets or your inner most feelings about someone else. Whatever the subject, composing it is all on you and your creativity. There are books available that provide exercises on writing both compositions and the lyrics.
Recording the song isn't difficult. It's having the funds for studio time or money to purchase your own equipment. Studio time varies and can get quite expensive after awhile. If you are planning on buying time, be prepared. Practice the song until you (or your band if you have one) get it almost perfect. Wasting time in the studio is wasting money. Before recording the song(s), the main focus is preproduction. Make sure everyone is assembled correctly and the song is just the way you plan it to be.
However, if you have the money to get your own equipment, more power to you. For around $500, you can purchase Pro Tools from Guitar Center and the package comes with a computer interface box, connecting you to your computer. Packages include extra software to help you compose various sections of your song and even fine tune vocals.
