Felt Frenzy for Kids

This fun kids felt craft project is easy to do even for toddlers! Kids felt crafts are wonderful for kids because they are tactile pleasing, there is minimal safety issues and kids love the fact that they are making a really cool craft project that can be displayed proudly.

This is also a great recycling project as left over pieces of felt scraps can be used to make an eye appealing piece of artwork that give the child a sense of accomplishment.

Materials:

One 8.5" x 11" piece of felt (this will be used as the mat or base)

A variety of felt scraps, shapes as is or cut into specific shapes (parent help may be needed)

Glue (Optional)

Directions:

Lay 8.5" x 11" piece of felt on table or work area

Have child place felt scraps on the 8.5" x 11" piece of felt, have child move the felt scraps around until a pleasing design is achieved. This is a great time to discuss with the child where they would like to place the scrap pieces, why and how the design looks after placement is made.

Younger children such as toddlers may not want to glue felt scraps to the main felt piece as felt does stick fairly well together on its own. Older kids may want to glue the felt scraps to the main piece of felt. If so, allow time for project to dry before displaying.

This kids felt craft project is great for use at home or in school as an individual desk project or it is great for a center project.

Felt frenzy helps kids with shape recognition and colors, hand and eye coordination, spatial reasoning, design elements and recycling concepts. The entire activity is very tactile and engaging plus kids love it!

The best part of the kids felt craft project is it can be stored in a large ziplock bag, it is easily transportable and is very safe!

Nice! This would be great fr homeschooling parents! Have you ever seen those books called Arty Facts? I bet you would LOVE them-- they have Arty Facts Ocenas, Space, Bodies, Bugs, etc...and they have great tips and ideas on how to incorporate art with science lessons. We use them in our classroom. Your article reminded me of the books.
