We all know that online dating carries certain stigmas. One of these stigmas is the possible danger of meeting someone who could take advantage of you or your loved ones, financially. Although many dating sites try to make sure you're safe, nothing is completely safe - not on the Internet, and not in real life. That's just a reality!

Make no bones about it...people who wish to harm you or your loved ones, financially, will do anything in their power to achieve their goal. If they're after your money, they CAN and WILL tell you whatever it takes, to cause you to part with it.

Naturally, you can't stop people from trying to take advantage of you, on the Internet, as there are an abundance of criminals. However, you can take steps to limit the inherent dangers, by being aware of the typical character traits of these people, and by taking appropriate precautions.

So what are the typical traits of someone who is out to take your money?

First -  Scam artists will always (eventually) approach you for cash...that's a given! They'll either do this by getting you to offer it to them, or by making you feel bad about the things that they're going through. Be careful, as this is a Major Red Flag!

I realize you might think you know the person. However, if they're asking you for money, and you met on the Internet, heed my advise - DON'T DO IT! You have no way of knowing if the person is who they claim, or if they're actually in dire need, especially if you've only known them for a short time. You also don't know if they're seeing someone else, or doing this to others.

If you give money to someone you've only known for a short while, on the Internet, you're just itching to be taken by a possible scam artist. This person could be doing the same to hundreds of others. It's certainly not uncommon for a scam artist to do so.  In fact, 9 out o 10 times, these folks are hitting up dozens of people, sending out copies of the same letters, they sent to you.

Takeaways
  • More than 70% of those on dating sites are there for one reason, and it's not to find love!
  • More than 50% of people on dating sites, have been victimized by one or more scammers.
  • Many dating sites are breeding grounds for scammers, pedophiles, and many aren't even aware of it.
Did You Know?
The average dating scammer pulls in over $1,000.00 a week, from unsuspecting victims.
